In order to ensure the best possible conditions, please follow the instructions below:
ON THE DAY OF THE OPERATION
- The morning of your procedure, take a bath or shower and wash your hair using your shampoo. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel. Do not use styling products (foam, hairspray, hair gel, etc.). If you are using a hair prosthesis it must be removed before coming to the clinic.
- The morning of your procedure, eat a light breakfast, avoid drinking coffee, tea and anything containing caffeine.
- You are advised to wear a button-down shirt or cardigan and not a collared blouse or anything with a narrow neckline to avoid contact with the head.
- In case you feel unwell (e.g. headache) in the previous days, the use of paracetamol (e.g. Depon, Panadol) is allowed.
PRESCRIPTION DRUGS/EXAMINATIONS
- Do not take aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen, Nurofen), multivitamins, vitamin E, and vitamin B complex at least ten (10) days before.
- Do not take anticoagulation for ten (10) days before the procedure. If you are taking anticoagulants, please inform your surgeon and your physician to change the formulation.
- If you are taking tricyclic antidepressants (A-MEA, 5HTP, beta blockers), antiplatelet, you should not take them for at least ten (10) days before. Please inform your physician accordingly.
- Avoid drinking alcohol, coffee, coffee drinks, orange juice and juices with vitamin C content 24 hours before surgery. All of the above may cause an increase in bleeding or reduce the effect of the medications used during the surgery.
- It is recommended to stop minoxidil 1 week before surgery.
- Try to avoid smoking 24 hours before the procedure. Smoking significantly delays the perfusion of the grafts and reduces their viability.
- People over the age of 45 need to see their cardiologist and provide a medical certificate allowing them to proceed with the transplant procedure.
