What happens after the operation?

In order to ensure the best possible conditions, please follow the instructions below:

On the day of the operation:

After the hair transplant procedure, you should spray the implanted grafts every half hour except during bedtime, with physiological saline solution which is provided by us.

The next morning after the operation, you can take off the bandage that has been placed. You should spray physiological saline and slowly remove the bandage. Continue spraying on the recipient area every half hour except during bedtime.

The recipient area is no longer sprayed, and you should wash your head. Carefully wet the recipient area with lukewarm water (avoiding too much pressure on the water). Apply a sufficient amount of shampoo to the hands (any baby’s shampoo with a neutral pH) and after lathering, gently apply a small amount of pressure to the recipient area. Rinse with care and plenty of water. Wash the donor area normally, provided there is no sensitivity. Repeat the same process in the evening.

Continue shampooing twice a day, in circular movements, all over the head, gradually increasing the pressure, so that small remnants of skin tissue are removed as quickly as possible, and the healing process is accelerated. Do not use your fingernails during the wash. To clean your head faster from the grafts, you can soak it in shampooed water for ten minutes and then rinse with a gentle massage.

After the first 10 days, the pressure applied to the whole head should be at normal levels. You should make sure that the skin on the head is clean. If you notice some hairs falling out there is no need to worry. This is within the loss phase and does not mean that you are losing the follicle but only the hair. Shampooing once a day is enough.

  • - Antibiotics (Augmentin/Zinadol etc): you should take antibiotics every 12 hours on a full stomach for the days suggested by your doctor.
  • Anti-inflammatory (Algofren 600mg)

FUE is a minimally invasive method, but it is still a surgical operation. This means that you will notice certain irritation in the donor and recipient area, which you may expect to disappear over the next few days.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I avoid in the next few days?

The following days are important for the growth and final sprouting of the grafts.

  • For the next 4-5 days, sleep on your back or side, depending on where the grafts are placed, so that they do not rub against the pillow.
  • Avoid exposure to sun or rain.
  • You can use a hat after 5 days, being careful not to rub the grafts placed. The hat should be cleaned before use.
  • Avoid swimming for the first 10 days in the sea, and 20 days in the pool.
  • Avoid lifting weights and intense exercising for 14-21 days. You may continue your regular light exercise, such as aerobic exercise, after the 7th day.
  • It is recommended to reduce or stop smoking in the first 7-10 days.
  • Do not use a helmet for 30 days.
  • Avoid the use of chemical products such as dye, gel, spray etc. for 30 days.
  • You can get a haircut after 30 days.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol while taking antibiotics.
  • We suggest wearing shirts with buttons and a long neckline for the first 3-4 days.

Itching or dry skin may occur in the first few days after the procedure. This is part of the healing process. In this case you may repeat the washing process or simply spray with cool physiological saline. If the itching is severe, you will use the special spray that we will recommend to you.

Don't worry if you feel the head area is numb. It is a common symptom that lasts for a few weeks and is part of the healing process.

You may notice swelling between the 2nd and 5th days postoperatively. The swelling starts from the anterior hairline and gradually moves to the forehead to end up in the area around the eyes and nose. This should not worry you as it resolves on its own after a few days. Be consistent with your medication and you can apply light pressure on the swelling site by gently massaging it towards the temples and not downwards.

If you feel any particular pain, please contact us. It may be necessary to administer anti-inflammatory treatment.
